We Need Your HelpAloha, Family & Friends:
We hope this email finds you healthy and safe. You may or may not know, but I lost my home and business in the August 8th Fires in Lahaina. This includes the West Maui Improvement Foundation (WMIF) and West Maui Taxpayers Association (WMTA) office along with all donation and membership records database that contained addresses for our supporters and members. We ask for your patience, as we rebuild our database. Though we were able to switch our Quickbook accounts to the cloud prior to the fire, we were still in the process of transitioning our Membership Database so all records and backup drives burned as well. We do not have addresses and email for the names and businesses in Quickbooks, but have names and amounts. Please help us by clicking here (or copying this link https://www.westmaui.org/addressupdate.html) to rebuild our database. This will allow us to rebuild our database, in combination with our Quickbook records. We thank you for your support past, present and future. If you have any questions feel free to email us at [email protected] (WMIF), [email protected] (WMTA) or myself Joe Pluta at [email protected] We look forward to continuing to work together for a better West Maui. Mahalo Nui Aloha, Joseph D Pluta, President Joe Pluta, President
Prayers go out to the Maui, especially to West Maui. Many families displaced, missing loved ones, lost loved ones. WMIF has been asked if we are accepting donations to distribute to victims of the wildfire - we are not. The WMIF office has also been lost n the fires and at this time we do not have the resources to manage it. In the meantime, mahalo to those who have donated since this happened. We ask for your patience as we process them, as it may take longer than normal.
WMIF continues to receive donations for our mission and on-going initiatives. Use the yellow donate button at the top of this page, and be sure to use the drop down to select where your donation goes to, mainly General Fund (to use as needed) or Olowalu Fire Station (fundraising for the proposed fire station). Our WMIF President Joe Pluta is safe, his daughter Jennifer is interviewed on ABC news. There are many established organizations who are doing this - please donate to them if you wish. Below are a few, but there are others.
If you wish to contribute to the people who have lost homes many have GoFund Me accounts, Venmo accounts. Members of the community has created google doc and Instagram accounts collecting the direct GoFund and Venmo links You can search for people you many know (please beware of scams) As always, any organization or person you wish to donate to please do your due diligence. |
